Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the very first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including fiscal reform, the budget and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She travelled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
